Every team has a rollback plan. Few have run it in the last quarter, and fewer still have run it with production data volumes.
We rehearse rollback as part of every platform engagement — in a real environment, timed, with the on-call engineer who would actually do it at 3am.
The rehearsal reliably finds the same class of problem: a migration that is not reversible, a cache that outlives the deploy, a feature flag with no off switch.
Confidence in deployment is not a cultural quality. It is a rehearsed procedure.
If you cannot measure the change, you cannot defend the system that caused it.
